Conilad wins on debut

Congratulations to the connections, jockey Danny Beasley and trainer David Kok and his team on Conilad’s win in race 2 last night. The 4 year-old won the $65,000 1100m race by 1 3/4 lengths over Super Ball. Conilad jumped well from his outside gate to take up a forward spot outside Dreampitcher (Syafiq Hazman) before taking the lead at the top of the straight. The former Queenslander drew clear inside the last furlong with the well-backed Super Ball (Alan Munro) his only challenger. Conilad raced three times in country Queensland for a promising record of two seconds and one third, and now races under a joint partnership between Premier Racing and Dato Terry Lee of Fairdeal Stable. “We bought him from Mark McLean in Australia and we’ve got a couple of owners and Dato Terry Lee sharing him,” said Premier’s manager Wade Burridge. “It took him a while to get here, around eight months. He was well educated but was a bit hot in the head at first. We told Brian, the former trainer, to do nothing with him for two months, and he’s come along nicely since. Danny rode him a treat tonight. It’s been a great teamwork and let’s hope he will keep it going.”
