One Two As Premier Purchases Quinella At Kranji

With the final race meeting of the year held on Sunday, it was great to see Premier Racing Partnerships private purchases Southern Spur and Paparazzi finish one-two in the fourth race of the night over 1400m.

Slightly unlucky in his Singapore career to date where he has recorded two placed performance, the four-year-old gelded son of Northern Meter was able to jump out extremely well from barrier eight of 12 and was urged forward by his jockey to take up a leading position in the run.

Trained by former Champion jockey Saimee Jumaat, Southern Spur maintained a solid tempo once settled on the rails in front, with the Stephen Gray-trained Sky Rocket sitting right on his outside throughout.

Fellow PRP private purchase Paparazzi, trained by Shane Baertschiger was back in a mid-field position for Glen Boss, and as Southern Spur skipped clear once the field headed into the straight, Boss needed to find clear running to chase the leader.

While Paparazzi never looked like making up enough ground to challenge the leader, he did produce an exciting finish to go down by three quarters of a length to give PRP private purchases from Australia the quinella.

With both showing form in Singapore, it is great to see that the opportunities in Australia and New Zealand to source proven track performers pays dividend for the various connections.
